Hi my names Tarryn and iv had a stutter since i was 5 years old. Its something im not proud off nor talk about to anyone. Its nice to have come across this site for abit of support from likewise people. I am now 22 years old and have the best, most supportive partner in this world. I am a retail manager which i really enjoy doing but my stutter makes me feel incompentent and stupid. My stutter is moderate and i guess it worse when i'm nervous talking to people.

Hi Tarryn. Welcome to Fluency Quest. Where abouts in NZ are you living? Im a kiwi living in Brisbane, and was born in Hastings, and have lived in Napier, Palmerston North and Wellington. I was in Christurch about 3 weeks ago and just missed a week of snowing. I like the snow but dont look forward to the cold. I have gone soft after a few years in sunny queensland.
Anyway, its great to have you here. I look forward to hearing more about yourself, and discussing your stuttering concerns and and the many areas of ones life it affects.
Talk soon.
Hi Tarryn
Nice to have you here, looking for this forum and registering is itself a positive move. I understand that in your case, stuttering is kinda more annoying (jobwise) and I hope you can find a way to reduce it.
Best of luck

Thanks for your positve comments. My stutter is annoying, but the worst thing at work is looking incompentent. I use the phone quite alot but am not always very fluent. I find I let the tention build up inside me and that makes it worse. I'm FAR to critical of myself which knocks my confidence alot! I found since i finally started talkin openly about it a little the stress reduces. I can't stand people with the perception that people that stutter must be dumb! Because that is SO NOT TRUE!!
